Max is a 16 month old boxer brindle mix, weighs in at 65 pounds. Heartworm negative, neutered and up to date on all his shots.
Max is a sweet loving affectionate playful guy. Even though he  seems great with some dogs, we are looking for a home with a  playful female dog for Max as a companion for him. He is currently fostered with a female and likes to visit the neighbors small poodle and other dogs that come to visit. He is not a aggressor type dog but he is a defensive type dog and will stand up for himself if need be.
He is good in the house and completely house broke. . He sleeps well in a crate but doesn't have to be crated if not needed. He is hesitant about getting in a car but once he is in he rides very well and very  well behaved.
He walks well on a leash as well but when he sees small prey like squirrels or chipmunks he will bolt. We recommend someone with leash training experience and is strong enough to hold him back when needed.
He was raised with small children, but because he was excitable, the family kept him on a chain 24/7, so he was very lonely. All he wanted was love and  companionship. He is great with kids over 8 yrs old, he is not aggressive with small kids but can be rough.

OUT OF STATE adoptions are possible.  If you are working with For The Love Of Dogs/Vermont Dog Rescue, the additional fee is $200 to cover transportation costs and the health certificate, which is required to cross state lines.  For other areas, we do not transport pups ourselves, therefore transport to other areas is dependent on location, fees, and availability of independent transport services.  You are always welcome to pick up your new family member.

We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes.  We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3  organization.  We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets.

We do not adopt to "outside only" homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets.  All pets are completely vetted, up to date on all vaccines, and given rabies certificates.
