My name is Jolene and I think I’m 3 or 4 years old. When I look in the mirror now, I see Springer Spaniel / Labrador Retriever or Golden Retriever mix. Mutt Marvelous, I guess you’d say. I’m in Crossville, AL.
I survived a hoarding situation about a year ago, so I have a tendency to have some trust issues. And I get startled easily. I’ve been in counseling and am gaining confidence that people are not so bad. Women tend to think I’m trying to “take their man” but honestly, I just prefer men. I can’t help the fact my name is Jolene (made famous by the country singer Dolly Parton-google it!). I’m female, so I can tell you right off the bat what I am looking for! I am looking for a homebody. Somebody to chill out on the sofa, scratch my ears and somebody who loves to give belly rubs. If you are a traveler or you want a dog to go run with, I’m not your girl. I don’t like to ride in cars. Or be in cars. And I sure don’t like the leash. So it’s important to me that my future home has a fenced in yard. The rescue I am with thinks I can acclimate to other dogs. I have been in foster care. I know I need to train with a leash and honestly, I am trying. I just don’t want you to have expectations of me, then give up on me when I don’t live up to them. My foster parents say I’m house trained, crate trained and have good house manners. We are a home based, not for profit organization in Northeast Alabama that helps place forgotten and unwanted pets in forever homes. We are an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization. We rescue pets from high kill shelters, prior to being euthanized, as well as strays and unwanted pets. We do not adopt to "outside only" homes nor do we adopt to anyone who wishes to crop, dock, or do any other alterations except the spaying and neutering of their pets.
